College Campus Security

College campuses are a unique environment due the large populations of teens and young adults who reside in and around campus. Some college campuses offer on campus housing as well as off campus housing where students have freer reign and aren’t monitored by college employees. Security on college campuses can be difficult especially as the campus gets bigger. While some colleges are small and contained, others have enormous populations that resemble cities. Some campuses are locked down from midnight to early morning hours when commuters and professors begin arriving. This type of security helps ensure residents are safe from external intruders during the dark of night. This helps stem the incidence of violence against students who might be walking home from the library or a late night party.
The students who live off campus don’t have the benefit of campus security patrols and might be subject to acts of violence. If living in an off campus apartment or group house, installation of home security systems might help to protect the home’s residents. College towns like Tucson work with local law enforcement to patrol heavily concentrated student housing areas. Home security in Tucson is important, especially around the college because thieves tend to pry on students.
