Laugh and Cry

It’s like Mama always said to me growing up, laugh and cry, they are both healthy emotions.  She was so right and in so many ways.  Laughing is a wonderful joy and a great gift to us all.  It strengthens your stomach muscles so you’re actually working your six-pack when you belt out a hearty, “ha ha.”  Laughing is contagious so you may be responsible for spreading joy.  And laughing gives you a chance to show off your radiant smile so that the Washington DC cosmetic dentist or even the Bethesda sedation dentistry group on your block can get free advertising.  Furthermore, if you’ve been flossing, your personal Washington DC dentist can feel proud.

Oprah often has Dr. Oz on her show (he has also been featured on Discovery Health) and he would agree that laughter is one of the best doses of medicine.   Crying, however, should not be short-changed as it too is a healthy emotion.  Dr. Perricone prescribes crying as a great release of a stress hormone called cortisol.  Wikipedia describes cortisol as the “stress hormone” that increases blood pressure and reduces immune responses.  Laugh and cry and live a generous, healthier, longer life.
