Florida Health Insurance Plan Covers Kids

Florida is doing its part to assure that children in the state receive the Florida health insurance coverage they need. The Florida KidCare program is in place to assure that children from low-income families, who make more than the maximum for Medicaid coverage, can receive the health care and immunizations that they need to remain healthy, through their teenage years. This program benefits eligible families in two different ways. Not only do the children receive free health care, but also the parents in the family can purchase an individual policy for themselves, rather than an expensive family plan.

After enrolling children in the state funded program, the adults in the family can enroll in their employers Florida group health insurance plan, without having to add on additional family members. Alternately, adults can seek out the individual medical insurance Florida insurers offer to the general public. Though these are not free options like the plan in place for children, paying health insurance on one or two people is much more affordable than paying the premiums required to insure an entire family. Florida’s state run health care programs have been criticized for many reasons, but taking advantage of those that you qualify for can benefit everyone in your home.
