Breathing techniques to help with stress

meditationThere are a variety of different meditation techniques out there to help you in achieving a healthier life style.  When I decided last month that I wanted to incorporate meditation into my overall health plan I decided that I would ease into it, rather than going over board and trying too many different things at once. Quite often when I start something new, I go at it full tilt and over whelm myself.

My best friend introduced me to an easy breathing exercise that I could do whenever I wanted to whether I was sitting, standing, walking or driving.  It involved breathing in though my nose and slowly exhaling out of my mouth while counting to ten.  She said it would help me to center myself and lower any feelings of stress or anxiety I may be feeling.  I tried it and was surprised at how quickly it helped me to calm my nerves and center myself.

I have since incorporated many other meditation techniques into my daily living but I still use deep breathing exercises on a daily basis to help keep me balanced and stress free.  The benefits of mediation are well worth the half hour of daily meditation.
