I Wish I Was Like My Brother

I feel like I have been trying to pay off all of my stupid student credit cards and personal loans for the last twenty years of my life. I do not know how I got into this massive load of debt but I sure regret having let it happen because it is not any fun having to dig and dig and dig your way back out of it. I have worked so many jobs over the past few years to try to make ends meet while still paying off these bills that they have completely killed my morale and some of them even my sense of self esteem. I mean let’s face it; no one wants to work at McDonald’s after finishing a full day of work at another job.

I am really envious of my little brother. He is younger than me and yet he must be smarter than me because he has not encountered any of this debt stuff that has so completely taken over and run my life for me for the past twenty years. He has never gotten into trouble either financially or legally and is just the luckiest guy to be able to do whatever he wants to do whenever he wants to do it because he does not have to worry about how is he going to pay off the next bill.

I am in the exact same boat. I have almost $20,000 in credit card debt. The really sad thing is that I have no idea how it even happened.

I agree that your brother is a lucky guy. But it really probably isn’t luck. He was probably just really smart and careful when it came to money and using credit cards. Maybe he should teach a class…I could sure use it!

I’m also working two jobs. One is full time, about 50 hours a week. The part time job is about 30 hours. Every cent that I make from my part time job goes to paying off debt. My students loans and my two credit cards. It’s really aggravating that I have to work two jobs just to keep my head above water.

I have never had credit card debt. I don’t even own a credit card. I’m afraid that if I had one, I would use it too much. It would be a huge temptation to be able to go out and buy all of the stuff that I want!

Credit cards are tricky. It is so easy to convince yourself that you’ll do better next month while you are buying crap with your card. It feels so overwhelming, I almost feel like not even trying.

I work really hard at not having credit card debt. I have one credit card that I use to make all of the purchases for my businesss and I am very careful not to buy more than I can pay off each month.

Your brother must be a really smart person. It is so hard to resist using a credit card too much. It is so easy to just run out and get things that you want and just pay with the card.
