Our most recent project idea came to us while out for lunch with a group of Tampa criminal lawyers.  They expressed some issues with their contact management software that they were using and how clunky it was.  We asked them what features that they would like to see, which resulted in us starting to create a software package for them.

We are looking to position it as the perfect software package for any Tampa criminal defense attorney and we are hoping that it will be popular enough that every office in town here will want to buy one.

If the product ends up being successful in our local market, we may decide to tackle other communities across the country, and maybe find a national distributor that we can partner up with.

Still, I shouldn’t get ahead of myself – there is still a lot of testing to do before the product is available for sale, but I am sure it will be a profitable venture.

After working for years at a private company, I was one of those managers that realized in order to get ahead, I needed to find top notch internet marketing in Tampa. I had just moved to the Tampa / St. Petersburg area and was a bit out of my league when it came to taking our companies products online.

We had online brochures and sales copy. The company had just launched and was very proud of the e-commerce software that was used to promote its products. Quickly, however, I realized that just having it did not mean they would come.

With this in mind, I began to network amongst my peers and learn what I didn’t know that I didn’t know. Admittedly this was quite the eye opener for me, especially as it concerned online marketing from an interactive perspective. In the future, I’ll be sure to start my learning online right away.

The Bike is really one big poker room with a few table games throw in on the side.  Whether you play Holdem, Stud, or Omaha, you can usually find a game at most any level. 

The types of players you will run across are truly representative of the area.  There are many Asian players, as well as Mexican players.  Almost all of the dealers are Asian.  Some don’t speak English very well, but they are usually competent dealers.

One of my favorite games to play there is the $3 - $6 Omaha Hi-Lo split game.  There are usually about three or four regular players there.  The worst player is a webmaster for a San Diego SEO company.  One of his duties is to provide SEO Optimization services to businesses.  The Bike is actually one of his clients. 

Obviously he gets paid very well as he is always playing in our game.  He usually donates at least two to four buy-ins each time.  By the time you factor in the rake of the game, you could almost figure that he provides his services to the Bike for free.

So, for the first time in fifteen years, I found myself without a job.  At first it was pretty neat not to have to go to work in the morning, and I did spend a couple of days sleeping in and enjoying the time off.  But, I knew that it wouldn’t last since there were bills to pay and children to feed, not to mention that my savings wouldn’t last more than about six months.  I really needed to get off my butt and do something.

I thought that this would be a great opportunity for me to do what I had always dreamed of - work for myself.  I decided to start a business offering a document imaging service to local businesses since there was no one in that niche.  It would also be a business that would utilize my skills that I had learned while being employed for the past fifteen years, so I figured that I should have an edge.

I have everything in place, and I will start working on getting some clients on Monday.  Though I am scared, I know that this business will succeed and will provide my family with the lifestyle that we have always wanted.  I definitely have a good feeling about this….

Now that I work from home, I take conference calls using comet series headsets while folding laundry or picking up the kids toys. If anyone is home, I use listen only earpieces to ensure outside noise doesn’t interrupt my work calls. Armed with a computer, a wireless connection, phones and wireless phone headsets, I can complete my work assignments, do research and communicate with my work office and never change out of my pajamas. Working from home has helped me be a more efficient employee and a better family manager.

Those who are into mass production businesses should consider investing in automated machines to save labor costs.

I once visited a factory that makes car lightings.  I saw all those multispindle machines putting screws on the corners of a car light.

Wow, it was so amazing seeing all those car light parts trailing on some conveyor and each one of them automatically getting assembled and screwed with multispindles in a very quick way.  I imagine that if it was done manually, it would have taken at least 20 people to finish all of them in one day!

I know that a machine may cost very high but considering the long term savings from paying all those workers, the return of investment would really be high.

I made a quick research on the cost of one machine and found out that it may not be too high at all.  Some companies even have a multi spindle estimate facility on their website so getting a quote could be quick as well.

Now it gets me thinking of getting into a business that mass produces something people use everyday.  I have to check my skills and passion first before going into such business venture.

The first thing to know is that there are basically three different types of CD printers. There are inkjet printers which are highly common for dvd printing. There are thermal printers which are more expensive but also offer a more professional and polished look. And then there are label printers which you’ll want to avoid if your purpose is to get away from printing on to labels and to move towards printing directly on dvds.

Most people will choose to go with an inkjet dvd printer. There are even dvd printers that will also serve to print photos so this is something to look at carefully. However, if you do a lot of dvd printing you may want to go with the thermal printer since it’s the one that does the job best.

My businesses require a great deal of GIS data. To map out all of the areas we are covering directly, we need a great deal of aerial photography that can help us pinpoint exact locations on a map and help us find the points of reference we are looking for so that my business can run glitch free.

Having personalized aerial mapping allows us the opportunity to receive only the information we need. Other types of mapping that have already been in place tend to not include all the locations necessary and contain extra information that we have little to know use for. Also, as is usually the case with any type of mapping, things change over time and without knowing what has changed (in other words, by looking at an old map) the data we collect will be incorrect and, again, our business will suffer.

As long as personalized mapping is still available, however, we will be able to utilize the data to our advantage and my business will be able to continue to work efficiently. As they say, time is money, and anything that can help my business move at a more efficient pace is a welcome addition to the budget.
